[Movie Review] Tower Heist

I caught the Tower Heist movie before my flight off to Hong Kong and boy, it was hilarious! With veteran comedians, Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy fronting the movie, how can you miss it right?

The movie's directed by Brett Ratner with a great supporting cast that includes Téa Leoni, Michael Peña, Casey Affleck, Matthew Broderick, Alan Alda, and Gabourey Sidibe. It's generally a movie about getting back at the boss who swindled even the employee's money! Below is the official synopsis of the movie...

Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy lead an all-star cast in Tower Heist, a comedy caper about working stiffs who seek revenge on the Wall Street swindler who stiffed them. After the workers at a luxury Central Park condominium discover the penthouse billionaire has stolen their retirement, they plot the ultimate revenge: a heist to reclaim what he took from them. 

Queens native Josh Kovacs (Stiller) has managed one of the most luxurious and well-secured residences in New York City for more than a decade. Under his watchful eye, nothing goes undetected. In the swankiest unit atop Josh’s building, Wall Street titan Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda) is under house arrest after being caught stealing two billion from his investors. The hardest hit among those he defrauded? The tower staffers whose pensions he was entrusted to manage.

With only days before Arthur gets away with the perfect crime, Josh’s crew turns to petty crook Slide (Murphy) to plan the nearly impossible…to steal what they are sure is hidden in Arthur’s guarded condo. Though amateurs, these rookie thieves know the building better than anyone. Turns out they’ve been casing the place for years, they just didn’t know it.

Farni right? It's definitely a movie to chase all the blues away. Watched Ocean's Eleven before? This is the comedic version of it! I totally dig the part where Gabourey Sidibe hit on Eddie Murphy on the last part of the trailer. Super dig her attitude in the movie.

I give the movie a 4 out of 5 popcorns. Idea and creativity is fresh, nothing used from previous movies and I must praise the crew for such a clever script! Would never expect to find money that way!

Eddie Murphy, the most overpaid actor Forbes said: Drew Barrymore is at the top

According to a survey conducted by Forbes.com, American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, singer, director, and musician Eddie Murphy And Drew Barrymore, actress, film director, screenwriter, producer and model are the Most Overpaid Actors In Hollywood.

The report was published on Thursday November 3. The 'Shrek' star follows right behind actress Drew Barrymore who tops the list bringing in just $0.40 for every dollar she’s paid. Ouch! Eddie fares considerably better providing a $2.70 return for every buck in his pay check, but he’s still the most overpaid male on the list, with flops like 'Meet Dave' not setting the box office alight. Compared to Barrymore, “Murphy is a financial superstar,” wrote Forbes.com’s Dorothy Pomerantz who compiled the list.

Going to host next year's Oscars, Murphy has struggled in recent years, too, with bombs like “Imagine That” and “Meet Dave.” He might take solace in his promising new film “Tower Heist.” Forbes magazine compiled the list from Hollywood’s 40 top-earning actors, and based it on each star’s compensation on his or her last three films and the operating income on those films. From that, Forbes.com derived a return-on-investment.
