Discover the Taste Notes of Tiger Crystal

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Hi Huneybees,

Last night, Asia Pacific BreweriesSingapore (APBS) launched a trade-focused programme for Tiger Crystal to strengthenits foothold in the local premium beer category @ Cocoon Bar, Indochine, Forbidden City. The campaign has beendeveloped with the underlying strategy of targeting modern-day drinkers who arespoilt for choice with the variety of premium beer options currently available inthe marketplace and is starting with a trade engagement initiative.

Tiger Crystal, a refreshing and full-flavouredeasy-to-drink beer, was launched in Singapore by APBS in December 2010 and isan award-winning lager made with the finesthops from the United States; high quality malted barley and yeast from Europe.

“The local premium beer market hasbeen very competitive. We are embarking on this trade campaign to not onlystrengthen our relationships with our partners, but also to find new ways ofworking with them to bring out great beer experiences. The number of beerlovers is increasing and many are keen to explore new tastes. Tiger Crystalwith its light, refreshing, crisp notes makes it the perfect thirst quencherfor many various settings, be it a night out with friends or over a simplechill out” --- Rene de Monchy, Head of Marketing, APBS

In the coming weeks,  APBS will organise a few events for their trade partners to highlight the essence of Tiger Crystal as well as extending the reach of Tiger Crystal to younger crowds. I got to preview a couple of special ways you can handle the beer last night.

Model, Iris showcasing the Tiger Crystal Bar Kit. It's a tool belt that houses a bottle opener, 3 pens, a torch light and addtional pockets to hold stuffs.
They kicked off with a short introduction and there was a flaring performance. Normally they don't do this with beer and I find this idea pretty interesting and refreshing.

Another highlight of the night, would be the collaboration with Ashvin Shawn Kishore, the Lead MolecularMixologist of Bar Essentials to present a beer tasting experience with a twist.

As the Lead Molecular Mixologist, Shawn provokes and stimulates the senses by pushing the boundaries of science and unleashing the potential of art through creations of Molecular Cocktails that tantalizes the senses from preparation to delivery. Shawn’s personality shines in subtle moments of witty banter and maneuvers, teasing the crowd that adds to the fun and delight of any given function.
Shawn’s previous achievements include:
•3rd place in the Horfex World Open (Hong Kong 2011)
•2nd place in the Horfex World Open (Hong Kong 2010)
•Finalist in the Horfex World Open (Hong Kong 2009)
•Finalist in the Asian Cocktail Championship (Macau 2008)
•Winner in the International Singapore Flyer Cocktail Competition (Singapore 2007)
Shawn attended & trained in the following courses:
•Elite Bartenders Course (John Whyte Course, JWC)
•Absolut Vodka, Martell Cogac Training & Tasting Seminar, Dewars Academy of Whiskey

What's that brewing? Well, with the use of liquid nitrogen,we got the beer in this icy, muchy, sorbet form.

Scoop a spoon of the "sorbet" into a glass of Tiger Crystal.
Pour in some liquid nitrogen.
And the drink's all ready. Wait for the mist to clear before you drink!

Thank you babes, for serving us great Tiger Crystal all night. :)
I got to experience first-hand, unlocking the varioustaste notes of Tiger Crystal at diiferent levels of chilling. At different temperatures, the drink tasted different and even the aroma is a little different. I loved it when it was served at its coldest and I'm in love with this Liquid Nitrogen Tiger Crystal!

Big thank you to Shawn to opening my eyes to molecular mixology.

Cheers to Tiger Crystal for the great evening!

Celebrate CNY With Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore in 2012

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Hi Huneybees,

Are you ready for Chinese New Year? The new lunar new year begins on 23rd January 2012 and Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore (APBS) has released their plans last week at China One, Clarke Quay, for CNY and I say, what better way to spend CNY than to spend it with your family and loved ones?

From Left: Raymond Koh, Marketing Manager, Tiger Beers, APBS, Rene de Monchy,  Head of Marketing, APBS, Paul Bisson, Marketing Manager, ABC Extra Stout & Guinness, APBS and Alina Boey, Head of Corporate Communications, APBS, ushering in the Year of the Dragon at the "Tiger Beer Five Fortune Pagoda"

This year's theme for the celebrations ties back to the essence of 聚 (togetherness), a modern interpretation of the traditions of Chinese New Year which calls for the spending of quality time with family and friends.
"The Dragon has traditionally been an auspicious symbol among the Chinese and APBS, along with our brands of Tiger Beer, ABC Extra Stout and Guinness, we hope to usher in the Year of the Water Dragon with activities that will bring Singaporeans together. These activities are aimed at encouraging the movement of good fortune and energy among those celebrating the festive season with their friends and family and we hope that they will bring wealth and good health to all"                                      ------- Rene de Monchy, Head of Marketing, APBS.

APBS Celebrates its 10-year Partnership with the Kreta Ayer Foundation

APBS will embark on a series of corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects which will include the running of its Cookies for Charity Programme. In its second year, this initiative will see APBS raise funds through the sale of fortune cookies to support the Meal & Grocery Programme created by Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng constituency. The Meal & Grocery Programme ensures that the needy elderly living in the constituency are able to eat more regular and nutritious meals.

Each box contains 10 fortune cookies and will be sold at a price of S$10 at APBS’ booth at the Chinatown Pavilion at Banda Street from 30 December 2011 onwards.

APBS will also be organising its annual charity dinner on 9th January 2012. The charity dinner will see APBS staff on the ground as hosts to the elderly community, providing the personal touch to serve them a sumptuous spread and provide an evening to remember.

In the year of the "Water Dragon", Tiger Beer has developed rituals in collaboration with Grand Master Phang of New Trend Lifestyle at the event "Tiger Lunar Extravaganza held at the Singapore Flyer on 17th January 2012. One such ritual involves the casting of Mandarin oranges into a “Tiger Beer Five Fortune Pagoda” (As seen in the first image) while another features a specially-created “Tiger Beer Dragon Wall”.

Keeping Tradition Alive – Passing on the Art of Lion-making

ABC Extra Stout is partnering with Henry Ng, one of Singapore’s last remaining lion makers, to pass on the traditional skill of lion-making to the next generation through a series of intensive workshops. Five teams, groups of three or four, will each submit a design themed at the link between heritage and Chinese New Year traditions.

The team that submits the most interesting concept will be chosen to bring it to life under Henry’s direction. The work will debut at the ABC Extra Stout Lion Dance Festival at a heartland location in January 2012, where seven of Singapore’s best troupes will compete against each other in a spectacular showcase of lion dance craft and skill.

Guinness-marinated Bak Kwa is back with its roaring success in 2011. Guinness will be giving Singaporeans the unique opportunity to learn how to make their very own premium Guinness-marinated Bak Kwa. This will be done through a series of demonstrations and an exclusive cooking class conducted by Chef John See.

On  21 January, Guinness Live singers will be serenading diners and shoppers along Pagoda Street. These performers, currently mentored by well-known music veterans William Scorpion, Fatt Zhai and Jason Chung, will sing modern a cappella renditions of classic Chinese New Year songs, remixed by acclaimed music producer, Eric Ng.

Below is the list of events and hope to see you guys there!
